Over this Christmas break one of the most divesting moments of my life came lurking from around the bend. One of my best friends Vincent Cocoa took someone’s life in a horrific accident. He was driving a car full of kids and his blood alcohol level was barely over .08. He smashed his 1987 BMW into a van killing the girl in the backseat. Cocoa is like a brother to me and when I woke up in the morning to see in the paper a picture of his face with the words “A night out turns deadly” shattered me. I fell apart knowing that he has to live with the fact that he killed someone, it just destroyed me. When I first met Cocoa I thought he was the greatest person, he made me laugh, stood up for me and he was strong for me when I had problems. It’s hard for me to be strong for him but I know he needs my strength. To read the words “ He should be dead and not my 16 year old sister” kills me, I feel for the family that lost their child and I know Cocoa can’t replace that but he has to live his life wit that shit on his mind , people really can be assholes.... this was a complete freak accident and people are making it sound like he’s monster.
The world today is a cold place and those who fall victim to the savages in the media gets torn apart by a bunch of piranhas. Like blood attracts sharks, drama attracts some of the most vicious reports in the water. They make little situations into huge ordeals and big time stories into immortal figures that will live on forever. Cocoa is a great person and who ever thinks different is an asshole ....dont even bother talkin to me.
Its terrible how people believe everytihng written in the papers...Vinny Cocoa is one of the greatest kids I have ever met and how Newsday rips him apart really pisses me off. Cocoa is a stand up guy and a great friend. "0kay Boys" is liek a family to me and when people attack Cocoa I take it personal becuz hes a brother to me and w/o the OKB I wouldnt be the person Iam 2day, all of my adolscent memories are from them and I wouldnt trade that 4 the world. I love Cocoa liek a brother and we will get through this.
